SHOWCASE THE ARTS 2010

It will be a “Weekend of Art” as Showcase the Arts, sponsored by New Hope Arts, Inc., returns to New Hope, Pennsylvania on Friday, August 20 through Sunday, August 29, 2010 with a photographic exhibition, children’s activities, a self-guided plein air painting tour of the New Hope area, and the culinary arts event of the year, “Savor New Hope,” which includes entertainment and signature culinary delights served up by some of New Hope’s finest restaurants.

Showcase the Arts kicks off with “New Hope: In Character” – a photographic exhibition by award-winning freelance photographer Bob Krist of some of New Hope’s most distinguished “characters” –  which opens for viewing starting Friday, August 20, from 12-5 PM and continues through Sunday, August 29, 2019 with modified gallery hours.  (Go to www.NewHopeArts.org for details.)  The opening for “New Hope: In Character” will take place on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 7 – 9 PM with wine and light refreshments.  Tickets are $15 per person.

On Saturday, August 28, visitors to New Hope can participate in a free self-guided tour of local plein air artists who will be painting on location throughout the area.  New Hope Arts will provide a map of all painting locations and a listing of local galleries.  On Saturday and Sunday, a local photographer will lead a group of photography novices on a stroll up the Delaware & Raritan Canal for some interesting “shooting.”  Wanna-be photographers must sign up in advance and bring their own equipment.  Tickets are $25 and include professional photo-taking guidance and coaching.
The Free Library of New Hope Solebury will host children’s activities at their location on Ferry Street in New Hope.

The weekend culminates on Sunday, August 29 from 6-9 PM with “Savor New Hope,” always a favorite summer culinary event.  This year, all of Stockton Street in New Hope will be closed to through traffic but open to a feast for the senses. More than a dozen local restaurant chefs will treat guests to their specialty dishes and libations will be provided by local wineries.   Bring your best voices to join in with the musical entertainment.  Great food and drink, lively singing, and lots of fun and laughter will make “Savor New Hope 2010” another unforgettable New Hope party.   Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 on the day of the event.  Savor tickets include entry to the “New Hope: In Character” opening on Friday night.
