Local Singer/Songwriter Releases Debut Album Light of Seven Mornings
New Hope singer/songwriter, Deva Troy, announces the release of her debut contemporary folk music CD, Light of Seven Mornings. The CD’s songs speak about the journey of life, healing of the planet, cycles of life, peace, relationships, love and compassion.
For over 20 years acoustic guitarist Troy has been writing and performing her original songs at festivals, open mikes and other venues. Her ballads and chants offer relevant, uplifting messages for our troubled times. Often compared to Joan Baez, Troy started writing songs shortly after she co-founded Peace Weavers, a sustainable community with the goal of inspiring greater peace and well-being for others, with Grgy Lynn Weaver in 1990. Troy has also been working with holistic healing and consciousness work for 26 years. She understands the power of the mind to lead the body into greater awareness:
"I feel called to pick up the folk torch and carry it forward as a beacon of hope, love, compassion and cooperation and to be a voice for the people and for the planet,” says Troy. “It is my deep desire to touch people's hearts with my music so we remember what we have in common, what is at stake now and how we can and must come together to 'be the change that we seek.' “(Gandhi)
Her passion is what inspired her to write songs like “Hold Me Mother Earth", What if Peace Broke Out" and "We Are the Ones," three of the 11 songs on the CD.
Troy’s CD Release Party and Mini Concert will be held at Pebble Hill Church, 320 Edison-Furlong Rd., Doylestown, Pa. on Saturday, November 19 from 7-9:30 p.m. Troy will perform on acoustic guitar along with J.B.
